Dr. Peffly is pleased to offer the safest, most effective dental technology available today. Lasers have a number of uses in both general and cosmetic dentistry and can be used for standalone procedures or combined with others for comprehensive services such as smile makeovers. During your initial visit with Dr. Peffly, learn how lasers can enhance your dental treatment.

Our Laser Dentistry Procedures

Dr. Peffly uses a soft-tissue laser for procedures including:

  • Esthetic Laser gum recontouring
  • Crown lengthening
  • Periodontal treatments such as laser gum pocket treatment

Soft tissue lasers cauterize as they cut, allowing them to minimize bleeding. Lasers also kill bacteria, making them an effective way of treating gum disease and reducing risks for infection. Lasers are quick, effective, painless, and silent. These benefits provide a more comfortable dental experience and make laser dentistry ideal for people who suffer from dental phobias.

Another benefit of laser dentistry is its precision. Lasers are incredibly accurate and provide Dr. Peffly with ultimate control. When using a laser, optimal results are easier to achieve and damage to surrounding tissue from inaccurate metal tools is entirely eliminated. When compared to previous techniques for gum recontouring and crown lengthening, laser dentistry is far and above the most attractive solution.

Lasers currently have limited uses in dentistry, but Dr. Peffly stays on top of advancements in dental technology to ensure he offers the most effective dental treatments available. In the future, it is possible that lasers will have a place in nearly every dental procedure. For the time being,  Dr. Peffly will inform you of those procedures in which lasers will most benefit your smile.

Laser Gum Pocket Treatment

Patients can frequently avoid the uncomfortable and costly periodontal gingivectomy procedure with simple Laser pocket therapy. The laser is placed in the gum pocket with minimal dental anesthesia (usually local Lidocaine) and the gum pocket is sterilized, removing bacteria and older infected gum tissue, paving the way for new healthy gum tissue to grow with a reduced depth of gum pocket. In most average gum pockets four to five millimeters there is no need for the more extensive and costly gum surgery after Laser gum pocket treatment.
